THE JOB:

Warehouse Operations Manager
Basildon, Essex
Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week
£45,000 to £50,000 per annum

Noble Recruiting are currently working with a freight forwarding business in Basildon that is looking for an experienced Warehouse Operations Manager to oversee performance across two warehouse facilities. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with strong freight knowledge, commercial awareness and the confidence to manage day-to-day warehouse, transport and customs coordination in a fast-paced environment.

The role

As Warehouse Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of warehouse and logistics operations across two sites, maintaining service levels, compliance and operational efficiency at all times.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead warehouse and logistics operations across two facilities
  • Ensure consistent service levels, SOPs and compliance standards
  • Provide hands-on operational support during busy periods
  • Oversee the receiving, breakdown, storage and dispatch of air, sea and road freight cargo
  • Ensure the correct handling of general cargo, hazardous goods and temperature-controlled freight
  • Maintain compliance with aviation security and industry regulations including IATA, HMRC and CAA
  • Monitor KPIs and operational performance
  • Manage inbound and outbound transport planning, including haulage scheduling, carrier relationships and last-mile delivery
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and optimise freight costs
  • Oversee stock accuracy and warehouse controls
  • Lead, support and develop the warehouse and logistics team
  • Manage staffing levels, shift patterns, training and performance reviews

Experience required

  • Proven experience in warehouse or logistics management within freight forwarding
  • Strong knowledge of IATA, CAA, HMRC and other relevant regulatory frameworks
  • Experience using a WMS or ERP system
  • A strategic and commercially aware mindset
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work at pace
