Assistant Quantity Surveyor | Chelmsford, Essex

Noble Recruiting are working with a well-established client in Chelmsford who is looking to hire an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support their commercial team across multiple live projects. This is an office-based role with the opportunity for hybrid working once settled in. You will work closely with the Commercial Envoy Divisional Director, supporting procurement, materials tracking, budgeting and day-to-day commercial administration.
Duties will include:
- Procuring building materials, bracketry and metalwork from schedules and drawings
- Sending enquiries, chasing quotations and comparing costs
- Negotiating with suppliers and raising purchase orders
- Updating procurement schedules in Excel
- Tracking materials from order through to delivery on site
- Monitoring lead times and following up suppliers
- Supporting with reactive procurement issues and site requests
- Assisting with variations and supplier pricing
- Supporting monthly applications and vesting processes
- Tracking installation records
- Assisting with budget monitoring and cost control
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience within the construction industry
- Experience within structural, façades or cladding
- Strong attention to detail
- Good Excel and IT skills
- Strong organisation and communication skills
- A proactive approach and the ability to work under pressure
- Good numeracy and commercial awareness
- A full UK driving licence and own transport
