Yard Operations Manager, Chelmsford, Essex
£45,000 – £60,000 per annum

Noble Recruiting are currently recruiting an experienced Yard Operations Manager to join a well-established logistics and technical operations business based in Chelmsford, Essex. This is a permanent, full-time position working Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, offering long-term stability and the opportunity to take full operational ownership of a busy yard environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end flow of a high-volume technical yard, ensuring efficiency, safety and quality standards are consistently maintained
- Lead the loading, securing and lashing of Out of Gauge cargo using specialist equipment and bespoke casing solutions
- Take full P&L responsibility for yard operations including budget management, cost control and resource planning
- Manage, mentor and develop a multi-disciplinary operations team
- Act as site lead for health and safety, ensuring compliance with Working at Height regulations and heavy lifting protocols
- Implement and maintain operational systems to track inventory, throughput and key performance indicators
- Identify, assess and mitigate operational risks to minimise disruption
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Yard Manager, Operations Manager or similar logistics leadership role
- Strong understanding of heavy lifting, Out of Gauge cargo and yard-based logistics operations
- Experience managing budgets and operational costs
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving ability
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure technical environment
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Driver with own transport desirable due to location
