Hire & Service Desk Coordinator

£28,000 – £35,000 per annum
Permanent, Full-time, Monday to Friday
We are recruiting a Hire & Service Desk Coordinator to join a busy, customer-focused team based in Basildon. This role is central to the smooth running of the hire desk, supporting customers with equipment hire enquiries, bookings, deliveries, collections and general service coordination.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a hire desk, scheduling, service coordination or customer service role, with strong organisation skills and a confident telephone manner.
Key responsibilities
- Managing incoming hire enquiries by telephone and email
- Processing equipment hire bookings accurately and efficiently
- Coordinating deliveries and collections of equipment
- Checking equipment availability with transport and operations teams
- Preparing and sending quotes to customers
- Sending invoices and updating hire records
- Liaising with customers, drivers, engineers and depot staff
- Monitoring active hires, extensions, off-hires and equipment returns
- Resolving customer queries quickly and professionally
- Supporting the wider team with ad-hoc administration duties
Experience required
- Previous experience within a hire desk, scheduling, service desk or coordination role
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Good organisation skills with the ability to manage a busy workload
- Confident using telephone, email and internal systems
- Able to work well with customers, drivers, engineers and internal teams
- A proactive and reliable approach to work
