An established aerospace and defence manufacturer is looking for an experienced Aerospace Quality Manager to lead its Quality and Inspection function in Southend-on-Sea. This is a senior, hands-on position with responsibility for maintaining the Quality Management System, managing the Inspection team, and representing the business on all quality matters.
Applicants must have previous Quality Management experience within aerospace manufacturing and a strong working knowledge of AS9100, First Article Inspection Reports and aerospace quality standards.
The Role
- You will maintain quality control throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring all work meets company standards, customer requirements and aerospace industry regulations.
- You will manage, maintain and monitor the Quality Management System and act as the company representative for all quality related matters.
- You will lead the Inspection team, manage daily workloads, support performance development and identify training requirements.
- You will oversee calibration, testing, qualification and associated approvals, ensuring all equipment remains maintained and available for manufacturing.
- You will manage the inspection and verification of components throughout all stages of production.
- You will create, review and approve FAIR and LAIR documentation and identify any resource, investment or approval requirements.
- You will act as an approved signatory for product release and other inspection processes within the Quality Management System.
- You will plan and conduct internal and external audits in line with AS9100, EASA and customer requirements.
- You will deliver training on VisualFAIR software and support colleagues with the continued development of quality knowledge and skills.
- You will work closely with Production and senior management to drive continuous improvement and resolve quality concerns.
Experience Required
- Quality Management experience within aerospace manufacturing is essential.
- You must have strong working knowledge of AS9100, EASA and aerospace quality standards.
- You will need experience creating and approving FAIR and LAIR documentation.
- You must be confident interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Previous experience conducting internal and external audits is required.
- You will need experience managing or supervising a Quality or Inspection team.
- Strong communication, organisation, numeracy and attention to detail are essential.
