Legal Compliance Officer
Location: Harlow, Essex
Contract: 6-month temporary contract, with the potential to extend
Hours: Full-time, hybrid working
Salary: Negotiable
About the role
We are supporting our client in the recruitment of a Legal Compliance Officer on a full-time basis. This role will play a key part in supporting the Legal Services department with statutory and organisational compliance across a range of activities.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and respond to requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations
- Handle personal data requests (Subject Access Requests) under the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR
- Support the reaccreditation process for the Legal Services LEXCEL accreditation
- Ensure all FOI requests are completed within statutory timeframes
- Conduct file reviews to ensure LEXCEL compliance and provide reports to the Legal Services Manager
Person specification
- Working knowledge of legal practice compliance
- Understanding of the Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR and information governance legislation
- Experience handling FOI requests, Subject Access Requests and third-party data requests
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines
