Job Hunting in 2025? Here’s What You Need to Know
From the team at Noble Recruiting – helping real people across Essex find real jobs.
Whether you’re looking for a new warehouse shift, an office job, or something longer term, looking for work in 2025 means knowing a few important changes — and making sure you’re being paid fairly and treated properly.
At Noble Recruiting, we speak to jobseekers across Essex every day. So here’s our guide to what’s changed, what to expect, and how to stay one step ahead.
Are you earning enough?
As of April 2025, the National Minimum Wage increased, and that means your hourly rate and annual salary must match your age group. If you’re being offered less than this, something’s wrong.
Check your offer properly — and if you’re unsure, call us. We’ll help you work it out.
National Insurance, P45s and P60s — What You Need to Know
Understanding how you’re paid and what’s deducted from your wages matters — especially if you’ve just started a new job, are switching roles, or working through an agency.
National Insurance: What’s Changed?
Since April 2025, employers are now paying more National Insurance. That’s something they cover, not you — but it’s led some businesses to adjust their hiring, offering more temp or part-time work.
So what does National Insurance (NI) mean for you?
It’s a tax that comes out of your wages and helps pay for your state pension, benefits, and NHS services. It’s handled automatically by your employer or agency and shown clearly on your payslip.
A quick reminder on paperwork:
- P45 – You’ll get this when you leave a job. It shows your earnings and tax paid so far that year. You give it to your next employer to help make sure your tax is correct.
- P60 – You’ll get this at the end of the tax year (around April). It’s a summary of what you earned and paid in tax and NI for the year. Keep it safe — you may need it for a mortgage or loan in future.
Temp or Perm – What’s Right for You?
Temporary jobs can be a great way to earn money quickly, pick up new experience, or get a foot in the door. Many temp jobs we place people in lead to permanent work once the employer sees what you can do.
Permanent jobs give more stability, but they can take longer to land, especially if companies are being cautious with costs right now.
We recruit for both. So whether you’re looking for something steady or just need to start earning straight away, we’ll help you find what fits.
Want to Switch Careers? Here’s What to Know
If you’re thinking about changing career direction — say from teaching to office management, or warehouse to finance — it’s good to know how the recruitment process works.
Our clients pay us to find people with relevant experience. That means we’re usually asked to find candidates who already know the job, or can step in with minimal training.
That doesn’t mean career change isn’t possible — just that it’s not something recruitment agencies are usually asked to help with.
What we can help with:
-
Finding entry-level roles to build new experience
-
Helping you spot transferable skills
-
Offering honest feedback on your CV and what’s realistic
We’ll always give you a straight answer — and we’ll support you however we can.
Your Social Media Profile Matters
Before an employer meets you, they might look you up online. It’s standard now — especially if you’ve applied for a customer-facing or office role.
What you post publicly can affect how someone sees you professionally.
Here’s what to check:
-
Facebook: Check your privacy settings. If your profile is public, make sure posts and comments reflect how you’d like to be seen.
-
LinkedIn: Keep it up to date if you’re applying for office-based roles. Add a recent photo and a short summary about your experience.
-
Email: Use a simple, professional email address — not one you made years ago that might give the wrong impression.
A tidy online presence can help you stand out for the right reasons.
